Bumps and Blessings
The last couple of days have been interesting. First, the bump.
My mom came to my house yesterday to pick all of us (me, baby, dogs) up and take us to her house (so blessed to have family relatively close by!). We loaded up the car and headed out. Traffic wasn't too bad, even through some construction. Then, a little over halfway in our 2 1/2 hour trip, "POP!" The tire blew out. Unbelievable! We were in the middle of nowhere...my mom, me, a 7-month-old, and two dogs stuck on the side of the road. Things I'm thankful for: 1)I was NOT by myself with baby and dogs when this happened, 2) my hubby renewed our AAA membership, and 3) it only took an hour for the guy to get there and change the tire (from 20+ miles away). You may be thinking, "why didn't you just change the tire yourself?" Well, you obviously don't know me very well if you have to ask that question. A girly-girl by no means, but not a laying on the ground on the pavement next to a fire-ant bed on a hot day in a tank top changing a blown out tire kind of girl. That's why we have AAA. But, I digress. I am also thankful that Caleb was not too fussy or tired or hungry and didn't have a dirty diaper during all of this!
To make the day a little crazier, while we were standing there on the side of the road waiting for the super-nice gentleman to change my completely shredded tire, hubby called my cell phone (in the car at the time!) to tell me he had arrived at his destination safely. I missed his call. BIG bummer.
And, now, the blessings...
GOOD NEWS: Caleb's schedule has not been adversely affected by our trip. This is the first time EVER that we have traveled that his schedule has not been totally messed up. He's sleeping well, napping well, eating well, and just having a grand 'ol time with Grandma (my mom) and Nana (my grandma, great grandma to Caleb).
A sweet friend told me on the phone Sunday afternoon not to think of this time as being away from my precious husband, but as a little getaway for myself and to enjoy being with my family (almost all of my family on my dad's side lives in the same area where my mom lives--BIG BLESSING!). So, we're on Day Two of Blessed Vacation! It's been a blessing so far to be at home during the day with Nana...so nice to have someone (adult) to talk to!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your prayers so far. His blessings are showering down.
