Cool Kid

Caleb and his "cool" glasses. When he puts them on he says either "cool" or "cute," which his Grandma taught him to say ("I cute" was actually what she taught him). Nevermind the fact that he totally doesn't match and he's wearing one of my shoes. :-)

And our little helper. Justin and I were cleaning out the office this weekend, shredding old files like crazy. Caleb thought he'd help out and dump the bag of shreddings on the floor. What would we do without him???

Talking Like Crazy

It's never a dull moment around our house! Caleb is constantly asking me to "go outside minute." (Can you tell that I always say, "In just a minute...") :-) He doesn't understand that it's like 147 degrees outside, it's incredibly humid, and his MOMMY IS PREGNANT! I'm thinking we need a swingset and a slide inside the house. It sure would make things easier this summer! :-)

On Friday, we had our 3rd swim class and Caleb did great. He didn't fuss or cry one single time. There was even smiling. :-) It was such a relief that he had fun. Now he asks all the time to go to the "wimmin poo." When mom and dad say "no" because it's raining (like yesterday), he wants to call one of his grandparents and ask them if he can go (I'm not sure how at 21 months old he knows to go to the reinforcements!). Yesterday he asked his Mimi over and over and over to go to the "wimmin poo." Besides the fact that she lives 1000 miles away and couldn't take him anyway, mommy and daddy had already said no. He wasn't very happy about that!

We seem to have gotten over the Elmo obsession and have moved on to trucks, trains, and airplanes. He is SUCH a little boy. We never have really tried to get him interested in anything in particular, we just see what he likes and go with it. Ever since our trip to Detroit where he flew on an airplane and saw a train for the first time, he can't get enough. Planes fly over our house regularly, and if he even hears one, he starts looking for it and saying, "hear o-plane."

And now that summer is here, he wants a "pop coo coo" (popsicle) about every 5 minutes. :-)

We're trying to keep Caleb in worship service with us as long as possible on Sundays. Yesterday he made it through the middle of communion and decided to go lie down in the aisle. It was time to go back to his class! I started toward him and he took off running to the front of the auditorium. I thought I was going to have to chase him on stage, but he stopped after a few pews! As we were going out the door he said, "bye bye" to everyone.

Look, An Update!

Caleb and I had our second mommy and me swim class today. Last week, he screamed his head off the ENTIRE time, but today it was only about 75% of the time. It's an improvement! I also found out why they instituted a double diaper policy (one disposable swim diaper under a reusable swim diaper) so the water is not contaminated by little baby poop.

Caleb's vocabulary is booming lately. He talks NON-STOP. Apparently he takes after his mother because my sister would be asleep before we even left the driveway and I would stay awake no matter how far away our destination and talk they WHOLE time. *sigh* We had to go to BabiesRUS earlier, and our drive there (about 20 minutes) went something like this:

Caleb: Mommy.Mommy.Mommy.Mommy.Mommy.Mommy.Mommy!
Me: What, Caleb?
Caleb: Balloon!
Me: You see a balloon?
Caleb: Right there.
Me: Okay

Caleb: Mommy.Mommy.Mommy.Mommy.Mommy.
Me: Yes, Caleb?
Caleb: choo choo train
Me: You see a choo choo train?
Caleb: Right there.
Me: Okay.
Caleb: Hold the choo choo train?
Me: No, you can't hold the choo choo train.

Caleb: Mommy.Mommy.Mommy.Mommy.
Me: (growing tired of hearing the word Mommy) what, Caleb?
Caleb: chuck! (translation: truck)
Me: You see the truck right there.
Caleb: Okay.
Caleb: Heavy truck.
Me: Yes, the truck is very heavy.
Caleb: Hold the truck?
Me: No, you can't hold the truck.

Caleb: Mommy.
Me: Yes, Caleb?
Caleb: Daddy home soon?
Me: (thinking, "Oh, I wish!") No, honey, Daddy's at work.
Caleb: Daddy at work. Mommy at work.
Me: Yes, Mommy's at work, too.
Caleb: Caleb at work.
Me: Okay. Caleb's at work, too.

And on and on and on. :-)

Yesterday, my sister called and told me she was on her way to get a pedicure and manicure before their vacation next week because Kurt was home watching Ava. It was 4:00 in the afternoon! I resisted telling her how envious I was because I wasn't expecting my husband home until 8:30 last night because of a teleconference with Singapore. These are the days I wish Justin was in sales because he is NEVER home at 4 in the afternoon unless he's sick. Oh, wait. He doesn't get sick. :-) Sis, you don't know how good you've got it!!

Tuesday Night Fever

Last night before I went to bed, I went in to check on Caleb. This is what I found:

In order for his shirt to actually do that, he had to have completely taken it off and tried to put it back on. Obviously, he missed the arm holes. We couldn't stop laughing and decided this definitely warranted a picture. I'm thinking graduation/wedding slide show. :-)

And here are some more pictures to make you all happy (i.e. my Mom).

Here's Poppa and Ava at our house a few weeks ago:

Poppa trying to wrangle Caleb into taking a picture, not so successfully!

Caleb wanting the camera. While I'm typing this he's saying, "Mommy. Mommy. Mommy. Hold this?" Which is probably exactly what he's saying in this picture:

And while we're on the subject of me actually updating this blog...I'm not sure I'm going to continue this one. It's hard enough trying to keep up with two blogs with one child to run after. Once the baby gets here, I'll have my hands full and I'll be lucky to even update my primary blog. And, yes, Mom, if I discontinue this one I'll still put pictures of Caleb and the baby on my other blog. Now stop calling to ask when the Easter pictures are going away! ;-)
